Wes Gray, PhD, of Alpha Architect, was definitely not. The former cattle rancher and US Marine did his finance PhD at the University of Chicago where he studied under two Nobel laureates.
But he can talk about stocks like the guy next door as well. Wes is, interestingly, a member of both the value and growth camps of investing.
In our chat – one of my favorites – Wes explains why he became an evidence-based investor, advice to new investors, why he did research to show that contrary to conventional beliefs, investors do share alpha-generating investing ideas in online communities, diversification, and more. In fact, one of the best parts about this interview is hearing Wes’ amazing biography – from poor cattle ranching kids to Wharton student to finance PhD program to US Marine Corps to finance PhD program again. And then to Alpha Architect, the firm he runs now.
